Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Returning to sport too early is the single most common reason injuries repeat. Pain usually settles before strength does, and that gap is where re-injury happens. Fzt. Aydın Ali bases the decision to return on measurement rather than on the calendar.

When is it needed?

  • Muscle strain that keeps coming back in the same place
  • Loss of confidence in a joint after a ligament injury
  • Pain or restriction when sprinting, cutting or landing
  • Reduced performance after a long lay-off
  • Uncertainty about whether it is safe to return

What we do

  • Injury history and movement screening
  • Strength testing and side-to-side comparison
  • Graded loading in line with tissue healing
  • Balance, landing and change-of-direction retraining
  • Sport-specific conditioning
  • Criteria-based return-to-play decision

Why criteria and not dates

Two athletes with the same injury rarely recover at the same rate. Returning on a fixed date ignores that difference; returning on measured criteria does not.

Typical criteria include the strength difference between sides, hop and balance tests, and pain-free performance of the movements the sport demands.

Preventing the next one

The strongest predictor of a new injury is a previous injury in the same area. The final phase of the programme is therefore preventive: hamstring and hip strength, trunk control and landing technique.

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I train again?

Usually much sooner than you expect, but in a modified form. Complete rest is rarely the right answer; the load is adjusted rather than removed.

Do I need a scan first?

Not always. Imaging is useful when it will change the plan. Bring any reports you have to the assessment.

Can you work with my coach?

Yes. Training load and rehabilitation load need to be planned together, and that works best with direct contact.
