Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we are asked most
We have gathered what people want to know before booking on a single page. If you cannot find your answer, please just call and ask.
What is physiotherapy and who is it for?
What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a health discipline that uses exercise, manual therapy and physical treatments to reduce pain, restore movement and rebuild lost function. The aim is not only to settle the complaint but to prevent it returning.
Are physical therapy and physiotherapy the same thing?
In everyday language they are used interchangeably. Technically, physical therapy describes the medical process led by a doctor, while physiotherapy describes the assessment and exercise-based work carried out by a physiotherapist. The two usually run together.
Do I need a doctor's referral to start?
No referral is needed for an assessment; you can book directly. Bringing any MRI, X-ray, operation report or instructions from your doctor speeds things up. If the assessment finds anything that needs a doctor, you will be told.
Can I recover without surgery?
In many conditions — lumbar and cervical disc herniation, meniscus tears, shoulder impingement — a large proportion of cases can be managed with an exercise-based programme. The decision about surgery always belongs to your doctor; physiotherapy does not replace it.
What happens in a session?
What happens in the first session?
The first session is given to assessment: we listen to the history of your complaint, review any imaging you bring, then measure joint range, muscle strength, balance and movement. The programme is written from those measurements and goals are set together.
How long does a session last?
It varies with the programme; the assessment session is usually longer. You will be told the duration when you book.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on how long you have had the problem, how severe it is and your goal. A plan is drawn up after the assessment, re-measured at intervals and updated accordingly. No fixed package number is given at the outset.
Are sessions one-to-one?
Yes. Fzt. Aydın Ali runs sessions one-to-one; no more than one person is seen at a time. Every repetition is watched and corrected on the spot where needed.
What should I wear?
Comfortable sportswear and trainers are enough. The area being treated needs to be visible — shorts for the knee, a sleeveless top for the shoulder, for example.
Pain, exercise and recovery
Is physiotherapy painful?
Treatments are applied within tolerable limits. Some discomfort can be felt during manual techniques and early exercises, but unbearable pain is never the aim. You are expected to say so the moment you are uncomfortable.
Is it harmful to exercise while I have pain?
Well-chosen exercise at the right dose is protective even during a painful period. The problem is never exercise itself but the wrong movement or dose for that person. The programme is set to your pain limit.
My pain has gone — can I stop the programme?
Pain usually improves before strength does. Programmes stopped before strength and control are restored tend to see the complaint return within months, which is why the decision to finish is based on measurement.
Are home exercises really necessary?
Yes — they are one of the biggest factors in the result. A few sessions a week are a small share of the week as a whole. The home programme is kept short and practical and is handed over in writing.
Appointments, fees and practical matters
How do I book an appointment?
Phone or WhatsApp is fastest. You can also fill in the appointment form on the Contact page; we will get in touch to agree a day and time.
Can I change or cancel my appointment?
Of course. Letting us know as early as possible matters, so that the slot can be offered to someone else.
How are fees set?
The fee varies with the programme and session length. For current information please call or send a WhatsApp message.
Is my health information kept confidential?
Yes. Health data is a special category of personal data and is processed only for the purpose of treatment. That is why the appointment form on this site deliberately has no field for complaints or conditions; details are discussed by phone or in person. See the Privacy Notice page for more.
Where is the clinic and how do I get there?
Fethiye Mahallesi, Kelebek Sk. No: 12DA, Nilüfer/Bursa. You can get directions from the map on the Contact page.
Could not find your answer?
